hey sis, hey sis,
happy new month! we're focusing on the theme of love (to self and others) in february, so we're sharing some tips to help support your self-love journey. save them, share them, or pocket them for a rainy day.
...and remember to continue being kind to your beautiful self.
#blackgirlsbreathing
as Black people have yet to experience what it fee as Black people have yet to experience what it feels like to live in a world where we are completely free, not targeted and not experiencing generational, societal and second-hand trauma over and over again, it becomes even more important to protect the joy, the sense of self and "being in our right minds" as much as possible.

we are constantly faced with messages around us of unworthiness out in this world.

how does that affect what we believe about ourselves?

what will you do to protect your sense of self and your self-love in moments where traumatizing images and videos that trigger deep senses of real fears of what it means to be Black are circulating aimlessly?

tap into a meditation instead of viewing that content.

call a girlfriend, loved one or family member and check-in and let them know they are loved.

in the fight against injustice, rest is necessary...and so is protecting our mental space from the normalization of Black trauma spewed across our TV screens and phones.

we love you deep community. take care.

if you can, take a moment now to pause.

reconnect to your body and breath.

inhale, expand the belly as you breathe in deeply through the nose.

with your mouth wide open, exhale with a sigh.

notice what stressors or triggers are presenting themselves for you, whether physically or emotionally, in this current season. what areas of discomfort can you breathe love and compassion into, now?

the breath is a powerful way for us to tune back in and reset our nervous systems in periods of heavy emotion.

when things start to feel heavy, remember to breathe.

rarely does the clock striking twelve erase what m rarely does the clock striking twelve erase what may be leaking over into 2023 emotionally and mentally.

as we settle into the new year and feel into the energy we'd like for it to evoke for us, we can't fully be present until we look back on what the previous year was for us.

no matter what 2022 brought into your life – love, heartbreak, lessons, endings, new beginnings – what can you reflect on and be grateful for? what challenges and moments of personal growth can you identify?

and even if all you did in 2022 was hang on, that deserves celebration, too, sis.

you made it, sis. welcome to a new year.

throughout the month of january, we’ll be discussing the themes of letting go of the disappointments of 2022, releasing what no longer serves us and planting new seeds for what we hope to grow and reap in this new year.

we encourage you to take time this week to reflect on 2022.
note the moments that felt good, difficult, or even indifferent.

and if you can, find grace for them all as they led you to exactly where you need to be.

we love you and we'll still be making space for you through all the seasons in 2023.

during a season that amplifies heavy emotions with during a season that amplifies heavy emotions within so many of us, let’s remember to be gentle with ourselves and others.

to set boundaries where they are needed.

and to connect back to our breath.

as often as we need.

we're sending you love community. we know that as we count down to the new year there may be lingering feelings of uncertainty, grief, heartbreak, hardship that leak over even after the clock strikes twelve... and that's okay.

keep going.
